MobilitApp citizen project deployed in the Campus Nord UPC to analyze mobility habits
08/05/2024
The SISCOM research group organized a 1-week campaign, in collaboration with UPC Sostenible and ATM, to collect multimodal trips of the UPC community traveling to/from Campus Nord from April 15th to 19th, 2024. The MobilitApp initiative is a citizen science project that gathers mobility data from citizens to achieve various benefits, including the enhancement of urban mobility.
The pilot test of the MobilitApp project, carried out by the Smart Services for Information Systems and Communication Networks (SISCOM) research group of the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya - BarcelonaTech (UPC), in collaboration with the Innovation and Community Office (UPC Sostenible) and the Autoritat del Transport Metropolità (ATM), has been implemented for a week at the Campus Diagonal Nord, in Barcelona. It has made it possible to collect quality data in relation to student mobility, the PTGAS and the PDI, specifically on their multimodal journeys. The final objective of the project is to improve the mobility of the UPC community when accessing the campuses, based on the analysis of the data collected collectively, always respecting data privacy. The project is part of the UPC's open and citizen science initiatives.
